Suppliers Readiness for Future Challenges

It is not possible for any organization and/or nation to move alone in the global village and especially with rapid changes in technology and globalization of markets; it has become very difficult for organizations to “go it alone”. World-class companies, therefore, seek to enhance competitive performance by effectively linking them with the external operations of supply chain members. Future concerns for organizations and nations are food security. Besides the energy crises in Pakistan, the suppliers for both industrial and consumer products are striving not only to survive but also to deliver the quality products to their customers. This research has been designed to provide an indication about the maturity level of our local manufacturers in Pakistan towards their consciousness and seriousness for required resources (human, financial, technology and systems for quality and food safety). This study provided us some insights about the readiness of our local suppliers (manufacturers) for future challenges of globalization. Data has been collected through email and hard mail using the questionnaire (English version) from target audience (50 local manufacturers based across the country dealing with primary materials from different product / material groups). Out of 50, only 32 (64%) organizations sent their feedback. Data from the questionnaires captured on MS excel spread sheet for analysis using descriptive statistics. The results have demonstrated the local manufacturers’ readiness on smooth execution of supply chain processes. Managerial insight is also provided accordingly for companies for their supply chain processes in nowadays highly competitive and global environments.
